How the Motorola Droid Syncs With Microsoft Outlook

All of the advertising worked since I stopped in to check out the new Droid from Verizon Wireless. It was not an instant love affair as the touch screen had a different feel from the buttons I was used to. However, there was one feature that stood out and made all the difference between the Droid and other smart phones. It's the speed of the internet... talk about blazing fast!

One thing I could not function without is my Microsoft Outlook. For me to take this phone home, it must be able to sync Outlook. The salespeople assured me that the Droid does sync with Outlook. I could not say 'sold' fast enough.

Then I arrived back at the office, BIG problem. Droid does not sync with Outlook. After reading through all the online forums, I was disheartened to discover that my salesperson had led me astray. After all of the research on the issue, I was ready to take my new cell phone back to the store.

Then I found a workable solution, a product that will sync my calendar and contacts. There is also another company that is working on USB sync for completion sometime in December. I decided the phone could stay.

As I have gotten to know my Droid a little better, I have discovered that it has many interesting features. One of my favorites is the voice activated internet searching. Simply tell it what you are looking for and within mere seconds, a Google search page will pop up with your results. Since Google is one of my main working tools, this feature will save me a lot of time.

The Motorola Droid also combines all of your contacts into one main contact page. It took my Facebook contacts and my Outlook contacts and merged them into one main contact page, very nice. There were only a couple of contacts that had issues; however they were resolved in quick fashion.

I would recommend the new Droid cell phone to everyone except those who must also have their Outlook Tasks and Notes. Those two functions of Outlook will not sync at this time. This problem will be resolved with the USB solution that is in the works for December.
